Terms of Sale

Terms of Sale

The following are the conditions of sale and transfer of ownership of any puppies from Kansenji (the term “dog” herein refers to both male and female):

ORDER of PRIORITY and AVAILABILITY
Puppies will become available to new owners on the following basis:
  • 1st choice to the breeder Keith Alexander, (Kansenji).
  • Other puppies to be retained by breeder, (Kansenji).
  • Remaining puppies subsequently available to new owners meeting the following criteria:

SUITABILITY and CONDITIONS
  • New owners will be matched from the available puppies from the breeder's list of prospective owners, taking account of the prospective owners circumstances, wishes and the characteristics of the puppy.
  • The breeder has to be satisfied that new owners are certain and committed to owning a new dog and that it will be provided with a good home for its whole life in all respects.
Progression to the "offer list" follows the following steps:
    • Initial application on the Kansenji Puppy Interest List.
    • Telephone Call.
    • Video Call.
    • Invitation to Visit. (KC Requirement to visit puppies with mother in breeder environment).
    • Progression to offer list.
    • Reservation Deposit 50% = Offer List.
    • Transfer of Ownership and Collection (balance due received).
  • The dog will be treated as an integral member of it’s new family and will have it’s own living space within the house, i.e. not outside kennelled.
  • The dog’s health and welfare will be provided for at all times with available services of a reputable vet.
  • The dog will not be allowed to be neglected, bullied or miss treated at any time.
  • The dog should be provided with good training and socialisation.
  • The dog’s safety in it’s home and outdoor environment are to be treated as a priority.
  • All dogs are microchipped and registered at their new homes. (Transfer of ownership to be completed as required).

PAYMENT and TRANSFER
  • The purchase price for each puppy is by bank transfer (BACS). Payment must be received in full prior to handover of any pups.
  • Select potential owners will be invited to visit the litter first, in accordance with KC requirements.
  • (Note - this visit is not to choose a puppy, although wishes are taken into account).
  • If successful as a new Kansenji owner, families will be advised and an offer will be made.
  • 50% of the purchase price is to be paid once a suitable prospect owner has been invited to progress to the "offer list".
  • This reserves a puppy from the availability, but at this stage is not specific to any particular one.
  • Final matching will follow and be agreed when the puppies are old enough for that assessment to be made.
  • In accordance with Kennel Club rules - full payment, transfer of ownership or physical handover will not take place before full registration is complete with the Kennel Club (i.e. breeder registration).
  • All puppies are fully registered pedigree Rhodesian Ridgeback, and the following standard Kennel Club restrictions are in place on their pedigree certificates. New owners are required to sign and confirm acceptance of these conditions prior to handover:
  •     1.  Progeny Not Eligible for Registration.
  •     2. Not Eligible for the Issue of an Export Pedigree.
  • Puppies will be 1st vaccinate (min), microchipped, vet health checked, wormed and nails clipped at handover.
  • Puppies are provided with their own vet bed blanket (used), toys and sufficient food etc. to help them settle into their new homes.
  • The new owner will be provided with copies of the puppy's pedigree, KC registration and vaccine certificate.
  • Puppies are covered by KC Insurance at handover.
  • Full support is provided by the breeder to the owners of Kansenji Rhodesian Ridgebacks for the whole of the dog’s life.
  • Puppies will not leave before 8 weeks old.

RETURN and TRANSFER of OWNERSHIP
In the event that the new owner of a Kansenji dog is experiencing any difficulties and find they are unable to handle or care for their dog as outlined above, the dog should be returned to the breeder (Kansenji) in the first instance at no cost or refund incurred by Kansenji. The dog should not be abandoned or given away, or sold on (see below).

If it is necessary for the dog’s ownership to be transferred to an equally suitable family member, e.g. if the owner has to relocate due to work, then the breeder Kansenji should be updated at the same time as the Kennel Club.

Kansenji dogs are placed to be part of the new selected home as pets only and not for future breeding intention. Since the advent of the coronavirus pandemic there has been a huge increase in onward selling, theft for sale, puppy farming and purchase for opportune breeding. The Kennel Club is extremely concerned by these trends. Kansenji support the KC position and will enforce our contract conditions.

As breeder, my first responsibility is to the life welfare of all of our puppies, who cannot choose for themselves. Consequently the sales and transfer of ownership contract will include agreement that no puppy is to be sold on. Puppies should be returned to Kansenji Ridgebacks in the first instance.

The Breeder reserves all rights to withdraw an offer and cancel the sale of any puppy at any stage of the homing process, refunding any deposits as appropriate.

Keith Alexander - Breeder.
